What is the ESA Program?
SDGE’s Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) Program provides no-cost, energy-efficient home improvements and appliance upgrades to income-qualified renters and homeowners. SDGE
Why was I Contacted?
SDGE provided your information as someone who qualified for the program, either through income or automatically through related programs such as Medi-Cal or SSI Disability.
What if I rent?
If you rent, you would need your landlord’s permission to do any upgrades on the home. They would need to complete the Property Owner Authorization paperwork (available here). Most homeowners welcome no-cost improvements to their property.
What if I own my home but it's in a Trust?
We would only need a copy of the one page in the trust listing you as a trustee to help qualify you for the program.
What else will I need to qualify?
A valid picture ID, your latest SDGE bill (showing Gas & Electric), the 12-month SDGE history for both Gas & Electric (we will help you find it), AND proof of income OR proof of another related qualifying program.
What qualifies as proof for these related programs?
Provide a document showing the program name, your or a household member’s name, and dates confirming current eligibility.
